Why the Pivot Change your Game.
Most players pick one hand early and cling to it. When the tiles dry up, they keep drawing and hoping. That's how a good rack becomes a wasted game.
This guide maps the eight families any hand can turn into, then gives you the exact paths inside each one. Twenty pivot hands, shown with real tiles, so you see where your rack can go before the table does.
Pivoting early separates the players who win from the ones who get stuck. Keep your pairs, track what's dead, and you'll always have a second plan ready before the game turns. Not after it.

What exactly is a pivot?
It's changing to a nearby hand that uses the tiles you already hold, instead of starting over. When the tiles you need go dead, you keep most of your rack and turn toward a hand that's still alive.
Do I need to be an advanced player?
No. The guide opens with a plain-English "what is a pivot" page, then builds up. If you already play weekly, the families and the decision checklist are where you'll spend your time.
Is this different from a cheat sheet?
Yes. A cheat sheet lists the hands. This shows you how to move between them: eight families, twenty paths, and the five questions that tell you when to switch.
Does it work with the 2026 card?
Yes. Every family and path is built on the 2026 NMJL card, and the guide tells you where to check the fine print. Use it alongside your official card, which stays the final authority.
How do I use it during a game?
Print the Guide and keep it by your rack. After the Charleston and every few turns, run the five questions. If two answers say "move", you pivot — and you already know where.
